You do it your way and I'll do it mine. I like to change parts when I'm in a comfortable place to do so. You can replace yours wherever and whenever your intuition tells you to. I even do maintenance prematurely if I'm going to be on an extended leg of a trip when it comes due. Oh the waste! :C
Your more than welcome to continue on in your quest of perpetual pursuit of no failure on the road by needlessly replacing parts before they are worn out..
Since I started driving in the early 1980's I have never broke a belt nor blown a hose.. All together collectively over all the vehicles that I have owned that amounts to 1 million miles of driving using the original belts and hoses..
Each vehicle exceeded 140,000 miles with one that had 220,000 miles.
I myself drive 500 miles a week for my commute, changing belts and hoses at 60K miles would result in me changing them ever 2 yrs and that is times three vehicles right now..
I don't just randomly throw parts at a non existent problem just because a manual says I should.
I worked with guy who listened to the BS from his dealer service department.. His dealer said that his Honda vehicles REQUIRE a COMPLETE UPPER ENGINE TEAR DOWN every 60K miles.
Tear down was to replace the valves, timing belt, water pump, belts, hoses and other parts I can't remember.. Cost him several thousand dollars each time..
Yep, there IS a sucker born every minute..
