How do you secure your portable Progressive Industries EMS

Just don't leave it sitting on your bumper when you pull out. I lost mine on the Bluegrass Pkwy last year doing just that. I had gotten distracted helping a fellow camper and forgot all about it :(

You nailed it for me I go Rving to relax and not worry.
I leave my baggage fear, and worry at home.
I'm really of the mindset don't worry about it.
The entire RV is not very secure. the baggage compartments can be pried open,the door can be pried open. The very expensive 50 amp cord can be detached and stolen despite my hard wired surge suppressor. The front door of every RV'er away from home can be kicked in. Even with a deadbolt lock the jamb is less than an 1" thick.
I'm not worried about any of that stuff cause it's just stuff! I go RV'ing to relax and enjoy myself without worry, I'm certainly not going to worry about a lousy $250.00 surge suppressor that truly cannot be secured. Do we go to the trouble to make the device appear secure to deter thieves or to ease our own anxiety filled minds.
What ifs can cause a lot of worry.............if you let it.
Hang that thing on a post and forget about it.
If some jerk is desperate/stupid enough to steal it so be it. Free yourself of all those worries about silly replaceable material things.
Save your worries for things that matter and that cannot be replaced like loved ones.
It's OK to be aware of your surroundings and alert to trouble, but don't bring all of your baggage and worry with you to the CG. Ultimately it detracts from the camping experience.

We secure our PI Portable 50A EMS to the electrical post and secure it with a lock. In six years, we have not had a theft; however, I am always cognizant that anything can happen. We have never covered it because of the weather.

Another idea is to get one of the computer anchor kits that uses a high strength adhesive, clap a bracket to one of the sides of the EMS, then use a steel cable to chain it to the pedestal. This should be enough security to stop the opportunists.

I used one for over 5 yrs and never had an issue...in fact the only thing I've had stolen in over 40 yrs camping was two $4.99 solar lights..Camp Sandusky RV Park, last year...Dennis

Mine has hung out in the open for over 7 yrs. when we FT'd.
No issues and my set up would be pretty easy to steal as my power cord is not hardwired to rig either. Unplug at pedestal, unplug at 5vr.......50' cord and PI

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. It has helped tremendously! I would hope fellow RVers would not stoop so low as to steal the device but I am not taking any chances when it cost around $250. It says in the documentation that it is weatherproof. However to be on the safe side I will use a bag as some of you have suggested.

While I don't think theft is much of an issue. If you are really concerned about theft get a hardwired unit and eliminate all worries.

Most pedestals have holes that line up between the lid and tbe pedestal. I use a padlock through these holes to secure the lid closed thus trapping the SG. I also place a bag over the pedestal to deflect moisture and prying eyes.

To steal my SG they will have to do some serious damage to the pedestal and that is going to make more noise than most fools can afford. If the pedestal lid cannot be secured I just use a length of heavy chain and a robust padlock.
