How to remove the A/C ceiling vents

I have a one vent in the bedroom thats making a little noise like somethings in there when the A/C is running, or blowing air. I'd like to take the vent register off to see whats in there making noise but I dont know how to get it off. It looks like it just pops off but I dont want to tug on it if there's some trick I'm not aware of. Anyone know how they come off?

It looks exactly like this one, but white.
Round vent

  • Thanks. I'll give it a tug and hopefully it comes loose.
  • Should pop off. What you are probably hearing is the CHEAP foil tape that MFG uses to seal duct to ceiling surface has come loose & is rattling. In my trailer I had to repair all 6 vents with a good commercial grade of aluminum tape. That happened when I noticed cool air blowing out of the antenna ceiling control. Again on last trip I still noticed air leaking out and pulled AC cover and inside discharge cover. Found most of the cheap foil tape had come off and most of the cool air was blowing into ceiling cavity. Again used the commercial tape to seal, and finally have it working the way it should.
  • Looks similar to mine except I do not have adjustable louvers. I get my fingers close to the center of the vent and pull it straight down. Pops off.
