How to repair "wing" window Mechanism?

Hello all, the mechanism that operates the little bedroom tip up windows on my 2003 Discovery has failed. I bought a new gear box from Fleetwood but now am stymied as how to disassemble the mechanism. Has anyone gone through this?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

  • The op should post this in a Fleetwood specific forum. The mechanism is really not designed to be fixed but I have seen reports of a workaround. It is not sturdy like the link provided above.

  • FW uses a very poor window. The gearbox is junk. I was never able to repair mine.

  • Are you talking about jalousie windows—the kind with several glass slats that angle up together kind of like blinds?

The gearbox for the jalousie windows in the bedroom of my Coachmen RV are attached to the window frame with a few rivets. This is pretty obvious looking at it, as the frame in question is an intermediate one—there are fixed glass panels on either side of the opening ones to fill the D-shaped space between the rounded outside frame and the rectangular mechanized portion.
