How to winterize a Splendide with air

For the last 7 years I've used the pink stuff to winterize the MH. Because we live in Colorado's high country, I have to winterize in the fall, dewinterize in December, winterize in March, dewinterize for April and rewinterize in early May. We aren't freeze safe until about Memorial Day and not safe past mid September.

The cost of pink stuff is killing me. I know how to blow out lines, but I'm not sure how to winterize a Splendide with air. My guess is that I would follow their directions with positive air in the line forcing residual water into the tub. Then I would add some pink stuff to the tub and then run the spin to winterize the pump and trap.

Right, wrong, comments?

  • Don't know what model you have, but on mine you pull the bottom front panel and the water pump is on the bottom right. twist the strainer about 1/4 turn to left and it will pull straight out. It will dump about 1/2 pint of water out if you ran the drain cycle, now all the water is out of the drum and drain hose. No need for antifreeze. Have not tried blowing air thru the valves.
  • You will have to run the washer on both the cold and hot wash settings to empty both the water lines. Then add RV antifreeze to the drum and run the final spin to empty the drum and protect the pump.
  • You still will have to put pink stuff in the drum and spin it out to protect the pump after you have blown the lines out.
