Hydraulic fluid on Coreplast

I had a hydraulic cylinder fail (the one on the biggest slide) and am replacing it today.
It had dumped a lot of hydraulic fluid - which dumped on me when I dropped the Coreplast.
It has had plenty of time to drain and dry but there is still a large area of stain.

Should I try to clean this stained area before I reinstall the lining?

If so, what should I use.

  • A tub of goop handcleanre and a scrub brush from Harbor Freight. Do not get it wet beforehand.

  • Yes, clean it, hydraulic fluid will not "dry" as such. It will probably smell some when it's hot out and it will attract/hold dirt over time making it a messy job if you have to get into there again.

I'd first try a small shot of brake cleaner to see how the Coreplast likes it. If not, buy some Simple Green in the the gallon jug that hasn't been diluted. Also Zep Industrial Purple will clean it.

  • Another option would be to just replace the affected Coroplast panel.
    Easy and inexpensive.

That's what I would do if it is compromised.
