Verify that there is 12 volts to the furnace.
12 volts to furnace, remove cover to the thermostat. Locate the two wires that go to the furnace. Connect them together. The furnace should start up, then produce heat in 15-20 seconds. if this happens separate the two wires. the furnace should go into cool down mode and shut off in a minute or so. If this all happens you have a bad thermostat.
