Install a vent in your fuel can ? Atwood tank, Honda 2000i

I have set up two Honda eu2000's on aux fuel cell (Atwood boat tank)
I have had this same tank before and it is not vented . In the heat of the day it will swell and try to force fuel down the lines . has anyone installed a vent on one of those cans? Or can one just drill a very small hole in the cap? It will set in the middle of my truck bed.
The two hondas are in a enclosure near tail gate.

    do a web search for gas tank nozzles and vents. sorry can't remember the name now, but just drill a 1/2 inch hole and pop vent in.

    Which typically let air IN but not OUT.
    Just loosen the cap a tiny bit.
    Getting the can in the shade probably would help a lot too.

    You're probably thinking of EZ-Pour. They available on the big online auction site as well as many other places. Just do a search.

    you've got it. and they don't ship to all states, had to have mine shipped to NC, not VA. I used a step drill bit from harbor freight to drill my tanks.

    They make a water can version that is legal and is made of the same material. You could make a mistake and install the water can version. ;) :D

    Yep I am hunting for a replacement cap that has a pre installed vent hole.
    Just not having any luck finding one,
    I did find one that was vented but it said fits PRE 20011 outboard fuel can.
    I wonder if the threads have changed with the epa hooplahh can post 2011.

    wonder how many people have lost homes over this new can . One man told me his pressured up and emptied the whole 6 gls in his garage.
    Another man told me his would flood his engine with out shutting the fuel OFF.

    Leave it to the gov to make crappy, dangerous fuel cans manditory.

    I have an atwood boat tank like that. They let air in, but not out. And they do
    swell up big time in the sun. I used the smallet drill bit I had and drilled
    a hole right through the center of the cap. Problem solved. I didn't need 6 gallons of gas all over the boat. But...my boat is garage kept, even though
    I don't think it would let much water in.

    No but it will let some gas OUT.
    That is why none come equipped that way to begin with.
    That is also why you can't find a replacement cap with a two-way vent.

    IF....you are going to do that, you need to modify your habits just a bit; NOT fill the can completely full, as that will guarantee gas will spit out your new vent hole. Even if not completely full a little gas will likely splash out as the fuel and can gets warmer.

    THIS can be a serious problem if any occupants of the boat smokes OR the can is used in an enclosed space where the gas fumes can accumulate......and explode from a static spark.

    The cans are made the way they ARE for good reasons.
    If you are going to defeat that safety device, you need to consider ALL of the factors.
