I have carried six batteries up front in mine with no issues. It is even with where the front jacks are, so it must be a strong point already around there.

The actual "shelf weight limit" is unknown, but the batteries are spread out so it's not like all the weight is on one square inch.

ISTR there has to be no activity for a time before it will drop to float and then it comes back to normal when you turn on some lights?

I guess at 13.7 it wont damage battery, just wondering it will take for it to become charged where it will go into 13.2 volts. it has been 36 hrs now

The post by Hurricaner is how to modify the 91xx charge wizard to be able to adjust the boost/bulk voltage.

If you have not read this thread from years ago you might get a kick out of it. Your work on the Boondocks was interesting. Hurricaner posted how to modify a 91xx charge wizard to adjust bulk/boost voltage. The Idea and mod was done by a fella named Lou on another forum. That seems to say that the PD will only go into boost by itself if the batts are below 50%. So you need to push the button on the CW to get anywhere if you start the recharge at anything above 50%.

I don't know how it can tell when your batts reach 90% as the trigger for when to drop to 13.6v if you do go into boost without the CW (by starting the recharge at below 50%.) If you do hit the button, it will stay in boost for four hours, never mind the 90% AFAIK.

So essentially, if you start the recharge at above 50% and don't hit the CW button, you might as well have kept your 13.8v single stage Parallax (except for the 13.2 Float part if you use that.)

EDIT--and they say pushing the button is "not recommended?" Crazy?

Don't forget also that this all refers to the PD's time at 14.4v ("Boost") and has nothing to do with the battery's Bulk Stage and SOC when it changes to the Absorption Stage (when amps start to taper.)

The 14.4v will continue into the Absorption Stage, which will start at anywhere from maybe 60% SOC on up depending on the charging rate (size of charging in amps vs size of battery bank in AH.)

Here is the PD4600 series manual. Look at page 5.

Boost mode - light on solid. Stays that way until battery gets to 90% SOC.

Normal mode - rapid flash occurs till the battery is fully charged. So, the more batteries you have the longer it takes to get out of normal mode.

We can't give you a hard and fast length of time. I can say that it will finally go into storage mode and drop to 13.2v.

Anything you can do to reduce voltage drop will also help. Some.

got it hooked up, pretty easy
my trimetric is showing 13.6 -- 13.7 volts and the light is blinking fast.
am reading this is charging, but for how long. it has been on for about 14 hrs. this is on 2 12 volt batteries

Means using a good charging rate near 30% with true constant amps in bulk and staying up at high Vabs for the absorption stage. No regular converter does that profile, so no good to me.

I used Vector chargers instead, which do have that profile. Now I use these adjustable PowerMax units which can do the same as the Vectors, but also stay on when the batteries are done, so they can be converters too for when on shore power.

I will repeat part of my previous post. I think your post perfectly exemplifies what I was trying to say (because I have no idea what you posted or how to accomplish it).

You need to remember that when it comes to specialized knowledge like this, most of us are dunces. It would not be worth the learning curve for most of us to be capable of it. And, if capable, confident.
