Inverter Swap 1000 for 2000watts

Man thanks for that little pep talk road runner I must say it was in order at this point. I was very discouraged when the freedom 20 did not solve my issue yesterday. I am thankful that no appliances are fried and my wiring and breakers and all also seem fine. This has been a hell of an ordeal for someone who just wanted to plug in his 1 day old rv to have air con and clean it out really good. What a nightmare. I am also thankful for all I have learned though. It's actually amazing how much I have learned about rv's and electrical in general in such a short period of time. So on we push man!

It's sounding like you've ruled out the RVs wiring as a source of the problem. I'm assuming you had every AC breaker turned on with the freedom bypassed, and when the batt voltage remained at 12.something. That seems to say there's not a 2nd converter, or could you have inadvertently changed the DC wiring setup with the freedom out of the loop? Bench testing the freedom sounds like it's in order. To do it thoroughly you'll need a 12 volt battery on the bench connected with reasonably heavy wires. A clamp meter that reads DC current would make it easier but you can work without it. All you need for an AC load is something like an incandescent bulb, maybe 60 to 100 watts. Even if you didn't need that 2nd freedom, what you're being forced to learn is worth a lot! And when you finally figure it all out, everybody following the thread will have learned things, too.

yes distribution panel = breaker box, terms are interchangeable

dip switch 4, on the back of the remote, controls 'charge and invert'

if #4 is on, it will NOT charge unless on-off remote panel switch is on

if remote is malfunctioning, you need to bench test BOTH freedom units
like i described above, with out the remote, if you can not get pass thru power on the bench, with no remote, then there is a problem with the relays/or the relay controls ? line sense ?

you could leave the 110v in/out disconnected
connect the battery wires to the F-20, put a RV plug on the F-20 110out

and when you want inverter...plug shore cord into F-20 and use the main power switch to turn on inverter

this does not help with charging, but it does mean you only need to buy something for charging if you want to goto separate devices

if you have the space there to mount a converter aka some charger
budget wise that would be my choice

the F-20 is still a heck of an inverter (it ran your A/C)
more than enough power for MW and outlets and TV

I also have the freedom ten pulled out and sitting in my garage and the cover off it. Can I do some bench testing on it to see what was wrong with it?

I understand that is sounds like the transfer relay or control circuit are bad. That is the conclusion we came to on the original freedom 10 unit. That is why I bought a second working freedom 20 unit and installed it. What are the chances that the transfer relay and control circuit are bad in both? Like exactly the same issue w both units. Esp when the ebay auction for the freedom 20 that I just bought said it was a working unit just pulled from an rv. Maybe the seller lied or it got damaged in transit? Seems very unlikely. The remote panel is the only thing still seeming suspect but it is controlled with only a phone line wire from the main unit. Could that be causing my problem?

distribution panel? you mean what i have been calling breaker box?

Look at the distribution panel for any make and model. Some of the smaller converters are located just below the breakers.

dip switches are on the back of the remote panel. switch positions and all this is in the instruction manual

instructions say power switch on the inverter should be left in the off position to use the remote panel. when you turn off the inverter from the remote panel ac should pass directly through the inverter. if it does not i would suspect the transfer relay or its control circuit are bad.

What is a dip switch? I have the freedom 10 in my garage now and its open, and I dont see any kind of switch that i can control.
