INVERTER wiring UPDATE

This maybe a dumb question to ask but do you put a 30a breaker in the main panel and one in the sub panel? I'm thinking not. the inverter Magnum 2812 is 30 a pass through. I have ordered my inverter and looking for the sub panel which is hard to find a 120v sub panel like the one at AM Solar which I did find cheaper, or is there another choice.
UPDATE: the manual states 30a breaker on both sides of the inverter one at the main and one at the sub panel

  • If I remember correctly the Magnum will have input and output breakers built in. They're little push-in style breakers. You don't need a main in the output sub panel; the input breaker will prevent overload of anything downstream. But, extra breakers don't hurt anything.
  • The only place you need a fuse or breaker is where there mite be a short circuit :)
  • Both sides of the inverter should be fused for safety sake. 30A inverter is probably 30A out put so 30A breaker there. Input will need way more than that.

I will admit, I have no clue what you are talking about. But I did a Google search and hit upon this. The discussion is on sub-panels. Maybe something here will help you out: Click here.

I am probably over thinking it. Do you need to have a breaker at the sub panel out from the inverter/ and one in the main
