This is what I was told also my steps were a 1996 vintage. However when I removed the control box there are about 6 screws to take the cover off I noticed that there are 2 relays inside, one was burned. I replaced it for about $3.00 and all was well again.

I hate to get into this so late but to hopefully answer your question, in 1999 Kwikee changed the whole system. The three biggies were the controller, for instance the new one had the last out feature and the old colored ones did not; they changed motors, several were tried and there are several different lift motors in about five years; the third biggie is they changed the magnetic door switch from normally closed(door open) to normally open(door open).

I would guess that you had a pre-2000 system and while it may look the same it isn't. When you told your supplier you had a 2000 model MoHo the supplier didn't ask for the number of the controller and sell you the door switch.

This happens a lot with anything like a motorhome whose manufactures buy individual components from outside vendors and don't make them in shop. Monaco may have bought more than they needed for the 1999 production year and instead of sending the old style to surplus used them until the old model was exhausted and you ended up with a brand new out of production model.

It could be that you had a short to ground (worn wire). When the brown wire is grounded either by short or by switching it to ground the step retracts.

I fixed my Quickee step by process of HOTWIRENIZATION, deciphered as, "A large 6 pole rocker switch" that says, "UP" and "DWN", no other switch, no controller, just a simple pos & neg to the motor.
Automatic ?? Not any more ! Fool proof electrical ??, yes.

Well i got it working, and the reason why is these post, Monaco oregon, and just keep asking. First of all i keep trying to confuse the two magnets on the motor with the door jamb switch, the two on the motor are for the dash idiot light(step out). So when i cut the wire on the door jamb side the step came out, therefore it was not breaking current, took it out smacked it a couple of times, breaks current everthing works. So Chris you bring up a good point, when i install the new one which came with the unit i should have no more issues but why does the old one work now? older style motor!! maybe,somebody might say why change it if it works, well it has issues or i would not have had to smack it. If the new jamb switch works which it should,then i will consider it no blood no foul.Thanks to all. 3708..............The New One WORKS!!!!

The new ones work differently than they used to- the door switch is reversed- yours is normally closed, the new requires a normally open one- a new switch should have been included in the kit. As well the main "power" switch works more or less backwards.

No i did not, if your referring to fig. #10 in manuel not sure i have all necessary componets to perform, but working on it.
