It depends on what the State requires of LP dispensing stations. A LOT of states have no real regulations. But, IF the tanks are 20 lb tanks, go to a tank exchange and just exchange. The refiller for those type take into account expired tanks and either recertify or just trash and replace with new. If 30 lb or 40 lb, get them certified. Doug

Use some gas. Then drizzle boiling water down the side of the tank. Instant verification of level. "Mexican automated system". It will never corrode, short out or wear out.

Propane cylinders on your 2011 Trailer S/B only 5-6 yrs. old........somebody swapped cylinders

When you see red, the pointer is indicating the empty tank.
Move the lever to the other side and refill the empty.

Repeat to infinity.

My bad... I need that brand. My is manual and really useless. I am going to look into that!

Glad you figured out the way the switch over works. I love mine and it works great and wouldn't do without it. It's saved my fridge from shutting off many times! (I only run my fridge on gas).

One off topic comment.. The tank in your pic is expired... ;)

Surprised you can find a place to refill it? 12 years is what the life is on them, but if the place you go don't check.. Well, there you go..

We will call the tanks L and R. You open both tanks. You want to draw from the L tank. You put the needle(arrow pointer) towards the L tank. When the L tank runs out, the pressure differential causes the changeover valve to open to the R tank. At this point, the GREEN indicator will go the RED. That is YOUR visual indicator that the L tank is empty and it has Auto changed to the R tank. You then take the manual needle/pointer arrow and turn it to the R tank. You can now disconnect the L tank from the pigtail to get it refilled without having an LP leak. If you do NOT turn the pointer to the full tank, you may have a LP leak out of that hose. Most RV'ers always use 1 particular tank first so they always know which tank is drawing from first every time. Doug

That looks to be a Mr. Heater brand auto valve, and it will switch its input from empty tank to full tank automatically if it is working properly.

Assuming you start with both tanks full and both valves open, the regulator will draw from the tank to which the valve handle points until that tank is empty. Then it will switch to the remaining tank and the indicator will change from green to red indicating that the first tank is empty. At that time you switch the valve handle toward the full tank, and fill the empty one.
