Lug nuts torque???

Just installed new 7,000# Dexter complete axles w/ brakes and hubs, one month ago.
Tightened wheel lug nuts to 120 ft lbs.
Wanted to remove the wheels to paint them and the lug nuts are very tight coming off, like the nut threads may have stretched.
Could this happen or what could the possible problem be?
Seem like the stud threads ore ok.
What size are the lug nuts and where can I purchase new ones?
Thanks in advance.

Were the Nuts righty-tighty on both ends of the axle?

If so, towing and especially maneuvering a tandem trailer tends to tighten the right side and loosen the left.

Did both sides loosen with about the same effort?

    Sorry, here it is.
  • Don't know what size wheels you have, but for 14"-16" wheels that's on the high side of their specification, though it is within specification. Really don't think you need new ones though, not that unusual for lug nuts to get sticky, and they don't stretch that easily. Here's a link to Dexter's torque specs.
