I attached the knob correctly and the click is still there but not as loud and resistance is half what it was before I took the knob off. It feels like a small washer or something was previously on the piezo stem or in the knob itself that tightened the fit and gave it the resistance to spark. It worked fine a few minutes before I took the knob off.
