I rarely use the generator for battery charging. I'd prefer massive solar. The one time I did so was an experiment.
I equipped the Yamaha with a remote start kit, so now for heavy long term loads I start the generator, and stop it as soon as I've finished. I just got the genny back in place on July 15, 2017. (the previous one grew wings.) Since then, I've used less than 20 hours.
I thought the 2k generators were limited to 13.3 amps continuous? You will not get 125 amps via a Magnum with the input set to 13, and not doing so may mean having to stop the generator to reset it.

Like pianotuna if a quick holdover boost is needed the the magnum 3012 can dump 125a into the bank in an hour useing the 2000w generator but that's only if it's rainy/ heavy overcast for 2 days straight.
