Go to Wal-Mart and read the wattages on the boxes for something smaller. I would have thought the 1000 would have run a 700 watt microwave. There wasn't anything else using power? Did the battery charger kick on when you started the generator? Our battery charger always kicks on for a while when we first start the generator.
