Low power settings only change THE TIME THE MAGNETRON IS TURNED ON..
In other words, full on is 100% on time for the magnetron for the duration of the time.
Set to 50% "power" and the magnetron now cycles on/off giving the food only half the magnetrons ON time for the duration of the set time.
Now if you are talking INVERTER MICROWAVE OVEN (which uses a switching power supply to power the magnetron), that is a different beast and can reduce the actual power..
