What sort of compressor do they use? A little one like my pocket sized one? Or a small construction one? Or their own special kind? Because I have a lead on the first two for cheap...

You are probably looking at $1K, minimum, to get an air suspension system installed. That seems like a high price for leveling a bed and it only affects two axis. I like the idea of a surplus hospital bed, cut down to fit the van space. If bed elevation is critical, I'd suggest to look into that.
