Need help finding a portable heater.

I am using an old (1986) Pelonis Disk Heater that has a variable speed fan & heating output. Set it for a temperature & it comes on at full wattage (1500) then, as the trailer warms up the fan & wattage drop. Usually, it gets almost silent & draws around 300 watts when the nighttime temperatures are in the 40's, although last night when it was in the 20's, it ran at about 1/2 speed & around 800 watts. Still much quieter than the furnace.

I believe they are still making a model that works the same - This one at Amazon looks like mine...

Thanks again for all the information. The Vornado heater that has the continuous fan setting is model VTH (Cosco), VH2, AVH2 and up.

I have a heater that does what you want. The Pelonis Flexi Furnace II (that's roman numeral 2). They are long discontinued, but I just bought one 2 weeks ago from an ebay seller, a hardware store with new, old-stock heaters. The fan stays on, with speed dependent upon the temperature, and I can hear the heating element quietly click on and off as needed.

Of course, rewiring an existing heater sounds like a nice solution as well.

I bought a Holmes HEH8031 heater at Target.

It works great for our 26 ft. class C and it operates the way you want. Fan runs constantly, heat cycles on/off. You can run it all night, or on a built in timer.

Yes, this is what we have. It's called a whole room heater. It doesn't get hot and it distributes the heat very evenly and very quietly.

Great heater.......

I have one of the original "micro-furnace" brand ceramic heaters, called a 'base unit'. It does not have a thermostat, and therefore does not come on full blast, and then shut off. Rather, it stays on, at whatever you have it dialed to. At anything less than half way, it's very quiet.

Dialed down, it pulls about 330 watts.

Great comments. Thanks to all. My small ceramic heater may be too small to open and modify the wiring. I will look for a new all metal small heater that I can open up easily and mobify the wiring.

That is a good idea. I have the same issue when we use our little electric fan heater.

Usually it is a rotational switch: Off-Fan-Low-High. Without looking at the switch, I would think the fan will have to be wired ON at all times the heater is plugged in. Otherwise an additional switch would be needed, to turn the whole thing on-off. At least that's how it seems to me....
