I think what I have decided to do is to wire up a 50 amp box using the existing wiring that originally went to the hot tub and use a 30/50 amp converter plug to my camper wiring. How well do the 30/50 amp converter plugs work?
SO you have 4 wires........or just 3 wires and going to use existing wiring for just 1 hot leg of 50A IF wiring is large enough gauge :H
Now I'm really confused :S - camperpugExplorerI think what I have decided to do is to wire up a 50 amp box using the existing wiring that originally went to the hot tub and use a 30/50 amp converter plug to my camper wiring. How well do the 30/50 amp converter plugs work?

RoyB's post pretty much shows it all for you. Here's some extra reading material.

And take Mexicowanderer's advice and triple check before you plug you TT into it.
Plus you can test with this. you will need a 30AMP to 15/20 amp adapter.

And i did real all the posts, notice mine is worded a little different.
And i am not familiar with those new fangled 220 range plugs since mine runs on 220 and is of the three wire type just like my welder is set up.
I apologize to the OP for running my chops. ScottG wrote:

Since the issue is clouded up, why not just wire in a new 50A 220 V Rv pedestal and use a dog bone for the plug in of the camper? :h
That's what I suggested way back.
It's amazing how badly a thread can get blown out of proportion.
Because nobody knows if he has a WHITE NEUTRAL at his existing 220. If he does, then your suggestion is the best way to go. I doubt he has a Neutral. My pool has 3- 220 pumps and NONE use a neutral. Doug- NinerBikesExplorerIf you have to ask here, hire a licensed electrician for a professional answer.

At this point I recommend an electrician.
no matter who does the work,
:E CHECK VOLTAGE WITH A METER TO VERIFY 120 VOLTS BEFORE YOU PLUG IN :E
