Is color coding fuel containers, or at east clearly labeling them, important? Well, we have a vacant lot not far from our Adirondack cottage where a beautiful log cabin used to be. The owner had filled a blue "Kerosene" labeled fuel can with gasoline for his generator, but failed to tell his wife about it when he left on a hunting trip. Unknowing, she used the can to refill their Kero Sun space heater on a chilly night, lit the still kerosene soaked wick and went to bed. She got away with relatively minor burns by going out a window, but the cabin and contents were a total loss. Even her car was destroyed as it sat next to the cabin. She spent the night with us after the EMT's treated her, and we took her to her sister's the next day. Her husband didn't know anything had happened until he returned a week later...
