Norcold 1200 Preventative Maintenance

I am installing a cooling unit today in my Norcold 1200. I started wondering if any parts should be replaced while I have access to the back. I plan to add a third fan which will be connected to the solar panel on top of the air conditioner as well as a baffle on the condenser.

Somehow I missed your post yesterday. I had seen that advice on a post you did a while back and ran the wiring as suggested. I set up the solar panel fans to run one beside the two factory fans and one on top of the vent. They both blow upwards.

Hi hypoxia,I am not talking about fire protection. I'm talking about "out of level" operation protection.

That may be a good thing to have, I haven't given it any consideration yet.

One thing I did per Doug Rainer's advice is run a wire to enable testing the fan thermostatic switch easily. It also provides the ability to bypass the switch and power the fans independently.
  • Hi hypoxia,

  • Thanks, I cleaned the drain tube which was full of debris. Everything I read claims the fire protection is not needed with the Amish Unit.
  • I would replace the drain tube. Be sure to replace any components that might be in the end of the tube as well. There may be a device to hold back some water to keep warm air out of the refer.

Loosten any ground wires that are held down and clean and retighten.
