When I ordered my NEW Amish cooling unit it had the new heating elements as well. Had a can of foam spray and some of that metal tape.

I haven't scraped the old mastic off yet. I can definitely get it all off.
A new heating element would have been a nice bonus, but what can you do? I'm now at $300 for this repair with the new element. I have some metal tape laying around here somewhere.
The foam looked good. It wasn't swollen or deteriorated. It was a pain in the butt, actually, to get the old cooling unit out. I hacked around it with a big putty knife to break the bond on the foam and it finally broke loose.
I'm not sure how that melted spot inside the fridge happened. It's all good from the back side. No sign of extreme heat.
I CAN'T WAIT to have a working fridge in this thing. It's the last big to-do on my list.
