Norcold 8W1203 Liop code

A friend had flat on the way down to Mission TX. Found the LI-OP Code on the Norcold. I am not sure if it had anything to do with the flat and being jacked up to repair the tire making it un-level. But his LP line is flat as his tire was. Can not get his Norcold going. Can I bypass the Hi-Temp switch? He has the hi temp safety conversion relay on his unit. Can I just jump the blue and red wire to get it working on Electric only again? or do I have to jump it at the main board? The repair man he called said he could not get to him for another eight days. I know he will not run it on LP as the line is flat. Thanks Gary
  • The LiOP code did not trip due to any LP problem. This code tripped usually due to the refer recall box doing its job. It could have tripped due to a electrical glitch. But, it needs checked to make sure it did not trip due to safety reasons. Yes, you can bypass to operate on 120 volts. With a LiOP code you have to reset the recall box. NOT the Main board. NOT ADVISABLE. Where did you get that model number????? That is not a Norcold model number. Doug
  • Doug I got that number on the outside back of the Refer. Maybe I should have checked the inside label. I was going to check the temp switches today. Guess I will see what the owner want to do. For now he has turned it into an icebox. I just thought I could get it going on Electric only for him. Thanks Gary
  • The refer will not work on either electric or propane until the error code is reset. Search for LiOP here and Google to find how to reset it with a magnet. If it was a hiccup, you are good to go.
  • Can stop replies to this, as I was not given good information, to start with. He has nothing at all showing on the eyebrow. Total off inside, but has 12V at the input terminals and the 12V fuse on the main board. No 12V anywhere at the recall box. And can not even get the on/off switch to work. I think he has bigger problems than I want to miss with. Thanks for every ones help. Gary

I thought he has the LiOP code? If so, on HIS design of the recall box, the recall box MUST be functional to get any power out and in to the recall box. The FIRST generation of the Recall box did NOT interface with the Rear control board. IF the first Generation Recall failed you had NO power to the Refer at all and did not have the LiOP code. Doug
  • Doug, he told me somewhere between his home and getting to TX, he had the Liop code on his refer. When I went over there Eyebrow was completely blank. I could not get it to even show the Liop, that he said he had. His 12V power supply enters the main board on the 12V terminals. I can track 12V past the 12 fuse. I have no power going to the recall box. I can not turn the system on. If I am understanding this right, the way it is setup here, the recall box get it power from the main board. The Red and Blue wires on the recall box goes to the Main Board on the two terminal right next to the P1 terminal strip to the left. There is no 12V power on these terminals.
He has told me that he had a LIOP code and there was at one time the red LED on the recall box. He also said He removed the recall box trying to find a RV shop that would test it on the way down. Said no one would or could. So he reinstalled the Recall Box. As of now I am not sure he may have caused more problems. Thanks Doug for your help. Gary
