Norcold Refrigerator Model N611RT

Need help !!! refrigerator worked fine end of last year started it up this year nothing to the Controls on the front of the frig and won't turn on. Checked out the control board looks like the fuses and 12v are fine but no 5v off the board which feeds the gas valve. Question is whether or not there's something else like the igniter or something else preventing the 5v that would allow the gas to flow. I know one thing is I don't have $2000 to put into a new refrigerator but I'd hate to put $200 into a new control board if it's not that. I can get the electrical schematic off the unit because they put it under all the refrigerant piping and don't want to move that stuff and risk a leak. The trailer is a 2004 so unit is used about 3-4 wks a year...

  • Have you ACTUALLY checked the 12 volt voltage at the refer with a Voltmeter? There will be NO power to any solenoids (gas valve) if the refer does not even power up or show display. ON the burner casing is a hi limit switch. Have you checked the voltage in and out of it? If it trips there will be no power to the refer at all and the controls will be dead. Doug
  • Thxs for the information. I've check some of the items already but a little confused when u say upper panel do u mean the switch on the top front of the refrigerator itself? Remove the technically "Auto/Off/Gas" switch and check the connector it's hooked up to?
  • Fridge uses 12V DC.......control circuit, propane etc.

    DO you have 12V DC (+/-) at control board (12VDC & GND1)
No 12V then problem is at DC Dist Panel (fuse) or wiring from panel to fridge

    Got 12V......
Check 12V DC to/thru 5A DC Fuse (Tan....auto type blade fuse)
No 12V....is fuse blown, are fuse holders tight

    Got 12V....
then need to check for 12V at upper panel (optical board)
Remove upper panel and unplug connector
Then check for 12V DC between White/Violet and White/Red wires

    12 pin connector
    top row.....far left pin *white/violet
top row.....right side second pin in *white/red

    Got 12V......
    then optical board is bad
    No 12V...
    then control board is bad
