- MrWizardModeratorwire like the very first one
battery .. no charger .. no external power
just remember, your RV is the load, and your converter is in the RV "across the load"
don't get confused by the other diagrams
first one ..top left corner.. battery no charger
the rv is the load and the charger - johnm1ExplorerMr. Wizard, you said ...
"use with charger ... with out external power supply your converter is a charger it will be powered by your batteries, while reading discharge and the converter will supply power while charging".
That wasn't one of the choices on the install diagram. Do I install "with charger and external power supply" but just don't hook up the external power supply?
This is the one I bought ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-120V-100A-Voltage-AMP-AH-Meter-Battery-Charge-Discharge-Bidirectional-Current-/170483294165?hash=item27b1989fd5
I can do all kinds of mechanical repairs but when it comes to reading wire schematics I feel completely lost!
thanks! - Snowman9000ExplorerI have not read the whole thread.
I installed two meters about the same as Mr Wizard got. I had a 200A one and a smaller one, 30 or 50A, I can't recall exactly. One for the whole house and one for the solar by itself.
After using them dry camping a few weeks last winter, I feel they are not all that accurate at measuring amps, unless you are in their sweet spot for current draw. I mean, they are "okay", barely. They will give you a rough idea of what you are charging or drawing.
They do net out the current if you are charging and discharging through the same shunt.
The controls are not super friendly. On one hand, it's a great little piece of tech for cheap, and a lot better than nothing. On the other hand, I can't recommend it. I think if you want good data and ease of use, spend more money. - MrWizardModeratoruse with charger ... with out external power supply
your converter is A charger
it will be powered by your batteries, while reading discharge
and the converter will supply power while charging
i bought the 200a version because of my 1250w inverter
i love this thing
right now i'm reading 13.99v 4.7amp charge and full 100% charged
don't forget to set AH capacity at 220~240 depending on your batteries
charge them all the way up then set the AMP Hr count ,
then it will show 100% full and count down during discharge - johnm1ExplorerI could use some help please.
I'm installing the DC120100C unit, from ebay, and I don't know what wire diagram I should be using.
1. With or without the charger.
2. With or without external power supply.
I have a (2) 6v GF batteries in series and no solar and I want to measure the in and out to the batteries.
Thanks, - MrWizardModeratorpush and hold the set button
the volts display will come on (and only that will be on)
push/tap SET again volts will go out , amps will come on
push/tap SET again amps will go out and the capacity, total amp hrs will come on
now push either the top button to increase the amphrs capacity
bottom button to lower capacity ( aka total battery amphr size )
when the number is correct push 'set' again
now push either to top or bottom button
you want to change the middle letter from N to Y
then push set again and the new capacity value will be saved
you sill then to set the actual value of charge example 200 amphrs
but that is a sperate operation - MrWizardModeratorLEN
on your preferences page you will find this, further down the screen under your signature box
there is a check box for each line
make sure 'show images' is checked

If this doesn't work then you need to check your 'browser' settings for a similar setting, about showing webpage images - NaioExplorer IIlen poleshaj, is the thing about pictures in your sig file?
- len_poleshajExplorerMr wizard is right. I want to know how to program the battery monitor discussed above that originated in China. i want it to give me an idea of how my consumption of amp hours is being replaced by hard charging in the morning using an Onan 5500 for a couple hours and then topping off with 200 watts of portable solar. The percentage of charge would be most helpful in learning how long the Onan needs to run. The solar controller already tells me how many amp hours I am collecting during the day, but have no idea how many amp hours are being stored by the Onan. I have estimated that the coach is using 100-125 amp hours during the day and by morning the two group 31's are down to 11.9-12.2 volts. I don't like depleting the batteries that low and would like to get the state of charge to as close to 100 percent as possible, to do that i need to have a better idea how many hours the Onan needs to power the Progressive 9260 charger.

He wants to set the the meter this thread is talking about
If he had a question about forum page settings
Then it would go in 'Forum' technical support
