'On the Go' water softening device- orange granules

Despite my best efforts, I hooked up my water softening cylinder backwards. What mostly happened was an overly thorough back flush.

What did damage,I think, was when I opened the top, and had some orange particulate granules overflow the rim, and get lost.

I gather that this is bad, and it deteriorates my devices efficiency. My question; can you get replacement granules?

If so, where?

  • Those were resin beads and they "collect" the minerals from the water. Then the salt and back flush flushes the minerals off the beads. So it depends on how many beads you lost to say how much the unit may have been degraded. I think.many water stores that sell water softeners an RO units, etc sell beads. I understand they are not cheap.
