Onan generator fuel filter replaced with a fitting

I'm usually the last one to figure things like this out, but I thought I would pass it along anyway since it is a safety issue. I acquired this 2007 Allegro last year. I have changed the generator...

The leak is coming from the filter. The crimp is failing. I know because it happened to me. ONAN modified their system to remove the filter closest to the engine.
