- Lar_sExplorerWhen we complained about ours Duramax pulled the whole thing out and replaced it. We wondered what they were gonna do with the barely 6 mo. old one.. found it in the dumpster.
The new one works about the same. Have to turn it higher to reach a specific temp.
The old one wouldn't get up to temp no matter how we set it. - srd1941ExplorerWoops, that's not really true. Maybe it did change cause with all my screwing around I now have less temperature than I started with.
Stan - srd1941ExplorerWell, the screw is in the center on the shaft that holds the adjustment knob, it is very hard to turn and only turns maybe a 20th or less of a full turn and doesn't appear to change anything. I'll keep looking.

OK here is a follow up on my Wedgewood oven: there is a slotted screw behind the control knob. According to the manual it is only to adjust the pilot light, not the burner.
That is the temp adjustment if it is in the shaft, the pilot adjustments are to the side- under the knob, but not in the shaft.
When I adjust those, I set the temp at 300, let it run for a while, then see what the actual oven temp is- then I hold the adjustment screw stationary, and turn the shaft to about what the right temp is.
Easier to do than describe, but I just about guarantee that yours is adjustable. - ktmrfsExplorer II

The pilot flame looks good and lights easily. The pilot flame increases when the temp is moved from pilot to a higher setting just as it should so the secondary pilot is working. Turning the temperature to the desired setting the burner lights after 45 to 60 seconds also as it should but shuts off before the temp gets to the setting. This, I believe rules out problems with the safety valve. Also the burner burns continuously when set to broil. I guess it needs a new thermostat; however it appears that the replacement has been discontinued. I have called the local RV repair shops and have searched the internet but have had no success as yet. Any suggestions?

I suspect a new thermostat won't be much better than the one you have. Seems like the temp error is pretty common and most often the temp is on the low side. My advice, put a oven thermostat in the oven and set the thermostat at the various temps on the dial and after 30 minutes read the oven thermostat. Then make a correction chart so you know what to set the thermostat at, or do as I did and redo the label on the thermostat with a labelmaker. - srd1941ExplorerBoon Docker:
No, but I will.

I found one site that would rebuild old units but as near as I could tell the price was within about $100+/- of a new stove. Probably into restoration of vintage equipment. I guess mine, being a 1994, is vintage but I don't care about such stuff being vintage myself. I just want to be able to bake a batch of biscuits.
Stan - j-dExplorer III take it you have the older mercury-style controls and that's why your vendor is saying "Discontinued." If you need one, Chris Bryant can supply a company name that rebuilds that type.
- Boon_DockerExplorer IIIHave you checked the Thermal Bulb to make sure it is not touching the wall of the oven?

just not per the original knob.
I replaced the Oven Control (the one with the Temp Knob) on an RV range, and it came with a knob that was marked differently. Differences in the way the old and new actually worked, required different labeling.
This problem sounds a little more severe, but I'm just tossing this in.
