Mine is in the front compartment where it is protected from the elements.

While I can see your point, in some cases I disagree. Effectively the pressure of a hydraulic is the same at each end no matter what the length, at least at the distances were talking here. manual recommends 10 gauge wire....not too difficult to run....10 gauge wire only has a 0.4 volt drop over 25 feet with a 10 amp draw...

Steel brake line is cheap and easy to work with, and there are a lot of big gas motorhomes with long hydraulic brake lines.

Thanks for the input....It does appear that most folks place them up front near the wiring....That is certainly an option for me also....for some reason, I thought it better to minimize the length of the hydraulic run...

I put mine just inside the front basement door on the port (left side) right by the battery. Attached the pump to some of the structure of the fiver. The kit I bought had more than enough hose to get to the axles and the whole job is done in hose.By putting the pump ect right there is where the wires are for the brake away switch and the cord coming from the truck (your wiring may be different)
