Playing With DC to DC Boosters

This little guy boosts voltage up to a limit of 12 amperes and is ADJUSTABLE current limited and adjustable voltage controlled.
I connected one to my WFCO when it was sniveling at 13.75 volts and .4 amperes and presto, my dialed in 14.8 volts soon appeared with an imposed 12 amperes of current limiting (via a pot), which of course started dropping as soon as the battery started to have it's fill at 14.8 volts.
This converter is a snap to set up, but it does need a ventilated enclosure. I recommend a switch on the incoming voltage from the converter, that turns on a 80 mm computer muffin fan under the booster. A 15 amp fuse wouldn't hurt, either.
So, the booster will STAY at 12 amperes boost until output voltage rises to 14.8
Too bad the idiots at Harbor Fright got rid of the manual transformer charger. With a 1K 25 volt electrolytic capacitor dampening the charger output waveform this would have made a heck of a nice setup. Such is life...
