Going on season six with an electric awning without issue! When extended and raining the shock compresses and it simply dumps the water and then returns to normal position. Mine also has the locking knobs so I can tilt one side down if needed / wanted.
No need to rush back to the camp site during an afternoon thunder storm worrying about water filling the awning. Also - the middle of the night storms.....simply push a button, it retracts and your dry / warm and back to bed.
