Power chords stuck together

Using a 30 amp adapter chord attached to my rvs 50 amp chord i occasionally here some crackling noise where they meet. Tried unplugging the adapter and it will not seperate. It seems like one of the legs might be welded ? Any thoughts on how to seperate them without damaging the rvs 50 amp chord?
I dont care about the 30 amp adapter chord.

  • An once of prevention ...

A dab of silicon dielectric grease on the male prongs would have prevented this.

With sustained loads like A/Cs the draw should be limited to 80% or 24A. At 30A sustained the plugs heat up and this is a common cockpit problem with a 50A RV on a 30A pedestal.

Agree with other posts - you'll have nothing but problems until bright shinney new plugs are installed.

If you hear arcing (the crackling sound) and can't separate the 50 amp cord from the 30 amp cord, I wouldn't mess around with it. They're probably fused.
I would cut the ends from both cords and replace them with new connectors.

Yep, both welded ends are no longer trust worthy.

Cut them off and replace them.

If it happened while you were plugging in...get in the habit of turning off the breaker first.

If not make sure to limit the loads when on 30 amp.
