Powerhouse Pro 3100RI

I have one and use it for beach camping to top off the batteries. It works just fine and is quite. I think it is a good buy for the price. Don't let the generator police scare you off,red and blue are good but for part time use they are pricey.

I happily ran one for a few seasons but it packed it in this summer leaving us high and dry. The thing looks slick but once I opened it up to try and fix it I realised it really is a cheap piece of crap. It was a waste of $1,300.

Might not be a Honda EU3000is but it is quieter than my open frame and has a Eco switch meaning it will be quieter still when not at full power. The same is true for the Honda Handi and Champion 3100i.

65 db is loud.

go with a Honda or a yahama if you are planning on being around other campers.

db rating is scaled like a Richter earthquake scale. And yes, 65 db is a WORLD of difference more intense than 59 db. Realize a 59 db screech is different than a 65 db hum for example. And people's perceptions of annoying noise differ. Some folks seem to be hyper sensitive. Others hate generators. Even the sight of one sets them off.

I have one and it does seem quieter but not as quiet as a Honda. FWIW I don't camp with it. I had a realization that I bought my camper with creature comforts and felt that boon docking was not for me so the generator was a back up at home.

I don't want to steer you into any direction but the perceived noise to me is a bit louder than I thought. To be completely honest if I was a boon docker who camped near folks I would opt for the more expensive Honda and Yamaha.

Its not a bad unit for the price, it runs my AC without fail. I will let you make your decision.

Yes, 65dBA is much louder.

Something else to note here: OP does state that 65dBA is at "FULL LOAD"

Anyone who has heard the Powerhouse generators knows that they are VERY quiet and their noise tone is actually a lower, less objectionable note than the equivilent "quieter" Honda.

I own two of the Powerhouse gennies, the 2700 and the 500. They are both quiet and the 2700 especially is much easier on the ears than the Honda 3000, which puts out the same amount of power.

It seemed for a while that the forum moderators had banned most of the shrill haters who cluttered up generator discussions with hearsay and veiled threats.
