Preventing Portable Solar Kit from growing legs

I asked on a forum if anyone had a portable solar setup stolen or knew of anyone who had one swiped...no one did!...it is something I worry about anyway!

I see the big savings, thanks. Are those controllers 10 or 15 amp what I need and have the 3or 4 stages and automatic shutoffs?

Wow that kits pricy AND you are saving over $400 meaning at full price they only want $10 a watt. A 200w folding kit from Eco-worthy or Windynation is only $300.

We want to be able to leave the at the CG for the day and return later in the afternoon with batteries charged. I do have room on my MH roof, but it's up towards the front and I don't like going up there.

Wow, that is so expensive! Check the Renogy suitcase set at Amazon, or make it yourself with a Renogy 100w panel for $149, 20w controller for $30, some cabling and make your own stand out of PVC for $10.

Can you share the name and source for a decent $20 controller?

I have to say I put my small solar charger inside when I leave the RV and in a public campground. Ours is a 50 watt panel and cheap controller that I just hook up at the side of the RV. I have always thought I would put panels on the roof but never have.
The cheaper Harbor Freight kits are often left out. I don't think anyone wants them! :)

Those Go-Power kits are way over the top for price. So are other brand "kits" but my goodness! :(

You can get 100w panels for $120 and a controller for $20 so you could have a 200w kit "made" yourself for $260 plus a bit for some wire.
I use ordinary jumper cables for my portable's wiring. Too easy.

Yes, I put the portable on the roof if there is a theft threat in the location. Problem arises where your rig is under trees and you need to set the panels out in the open though.

I've thought about this too. I have a collapsible ladder for cleaning my slides so I don't that I don"t have to get on the roof. I could put the ladder where I want the panels to go on the roof, have the DW pass the panels up and I stick it on the roof facing the noon sun, then lock the ladder away.
Someone could go up the rear ladder, walk to the front, cut the cables and climb back down, but then they would need cables and a controller to have a working unit, plus they would be conspicuous during the crime.
While my controller is presently mounted to the back of my suitcase panels, I plan to mount it near the batteries and use Anderson connectors to connect the panel cable to the controller.
While camping in Grand Teton, someone near us left their portable panels out all day without issue for several days.

Maybe they'll grow legs and walk up on the roof!
