Proflex (geocel) bonding to butyl?
I'm in the process of resealing things on my trailer.
I have corrugated aluminum siding. The corner trim to siding joint unavoidably large gaps (1/4") in the low spots because of the corrugated shape - and those gaps are pretty well filled with putty/butyl.
I seem to read things about trimming back excess putty/butyl and topping it with geocel proflex. This seems great for windows etc, but for the big gap corner seals, where there is really no surface besides the butyl itself for the caulk to adhere to, it seems like it wouldn't be able to stick and last.
It seems counter intuitive to me, so just wondering what people have done.
