propane hose type

jmckelvy , I've found it device specific. My little buddy gets enough gas to keep the pilot going but not enough for the surface to more than sputter. My Q exceeds 400F with double regulation, another grill has no flame increase from med to hi!

I have an Arctic Fox 990 with a low pressure quick connect port. I also have a Weber Q100. I ran an experiment to see for myself if it would work on the low pressure port. I connected a small 1 lb throwaway bottle and turned the grill on noting the size of the flames and adjustment range. I removed the 1 lb bottle and then connected it to the low pressure port with an adapter cable. I noted no difference in the flame or adjustment range.

Thanks for all the info. It just seems easier to attached the 1lb bottles.

Yes. Most grills are. The distance between the container and the flame have nothing to do with the operating pressure of the grill. If you can not remove the regulator from your grill then you'll need to provide it with container pressure (unregulated) or high enough regulated pressure so as the existing regulator provides ample propane to the burner(s).

JHilley, this is awesome info. These guys are right in my back yard. Just got off the phone with them and they are assembling a new 5'bbq hose for me to be picked up today.

Funny thing, they are located about 3 blocks from my office and I didn't even know they were there. Oh thank heaven for the interwebs!!

If the connection is between the valve and the regulator, then it is hi pressure. Use a hose made for the purpose.

The port on the Jayco is likely a low pressure port

You will need to install a high pressure tap for the grill

The old days that was a Marshall Brass Extend-a-stay (What I used in fact,it went with my last trailer)

You can also use the Marshall Brass Extend-a-Flow (What I use on my Class A)

Only problem... Marshall brass no longer lists those items.. But Camping World and your favorite RV dealer will likely have the products that replace them. Older clerks will recall the names above.
