Um, yes, you do.

When you disconnect the line from the valve on the tank, there is that little open hole there. Propane puffs out, replaced by a slug of air. When you connect the line back to the filled tank, you trap that slug of air in the line.

Happens to me every time I change tanks. There's always a bit of air to purge which causes a brief lapse in flame quality.

Get real, That small insignificant "puff" of air is not worth mentioning. No purge needed. The only purge is to fill the empty line of the LP that bled out, but that little amount of "air" is in the low pressure system of the RV. After 36 years of working on RV's and LP systems, trust what I am telling you. It is the actual fact:B. There is a check valve on that pigtail that connects to the tank valve. Doug

Well, I replaced the regulator. So far, so good.

YES.....I am aware.
Water intrusion, clogged screen, debris inside regulator will cause regulator to malfunction.
Was just trying to get clarification so OP understood and why it is important for proper installation of regulator.

we had the same problem on one of our trailers, the tank's pressure regulator is not functioning properly. ours had water in it at some point and corroded the innards.

And remember as the tank delivers gas there is cooling happening as the liquid turn into a gas, high usage makes it worse, you could be freezing up. (y,es even at 40 degrees). when you use less on the stove it thaws out and your good to go again.

Second thought,,, when your furnace goes out due to low gas pressure it will not re-light until shut off and re-cycled. that's why you wake up cold.

a 100lb tank holds about 25 liquid gallons of LP. There is NO WAY to determine the actual amount of Liquid in that tank without weighing the tank. So, If it is filled and holds from 23 to 25 gallons of LP your tank was empty and THAT would be the cause of your problem. I have 2- 100 lb tanks on my outdoor grill and they BOTH will completely drain before the switchover happens. If you have Liquid, it will vaporize. The only thing that may cause a vaporization problem is if the tanks have moisture in them. But, if they are empty, then moisture is not your concern. Doug
