Propane leak (smell )

Just discovered when walking into camper, a smell of propane. Propane detector does not sound off but smell is persistent. Any recommendations for a inexpensive hand held leak detector ? I tried using soap bubbles at joints but no luck. Yes, tanks are shut off except to try and find leak.
thanks

  • Both CAMCO and VALTERRA sell "leak location" sprays or liquids. It is just like using soapy water. Check with a local Propane distributor for a handheld sniffer. They are likely to offer to sniff for you, for a slight fee, abet lower cost than buying your own.
  • An old stove w/ a pilot lite in the oven ?

An MT tank does not smell because its MT.
  • I would guess your out of gas!
Bottled gas has an odorizer adeed to it, usually when the tank is near empty is when you smell it. First things first. Get the tank filled.
