Propane use. Now we use twice as much!

We've been on the road since February. When we started a five gallon cylinder seemed to last a month. Now it lasts a week! I know it's summer now and the fridge has to work harder but gee. Or maybe we have a leak. Not inside. We'd smell that plus there's the gas detector. Out near the tanks there is a slight odor but not more than usual. We have one of those valves that automatically switches between tanks when one is empty. I have tightened the hose connections at the tanks. Any usual suspects?

  • Your fridge is running more in the heat, but mix up a soapy solution of dish soap and water and brush or pour it on all the connections you can reach and look to see if any bubbles grow. If they do you have a leak.Or you can have your local full service LP Gas Dealer run a pressure check on the system for you.
    Good Luck
  • Assuming you're not using furnace, oven, water heater a lot more-I'd check for leaks. Soapy water, etc. Also are you getting good fill on your tank? Check the flame of the fridge to insure it is the proper size and shape.
