Propane

My propane tank is very low and I cant get to a propane station for a while. Is there a way to connect a portable tank to the RV system?

  • I have the Stay-a-While Deluxe installed between the main tank and the coach feed. It allows using an external tank as well as another outlet to feed the BBQ when IT runs out of gas.

Might be expensive but it ain't funny when the coach tank runs out, or worse the BBQ when the steaks are 1/2 done..
  • Heck, I can run my entire trailer from a 16.4 oz canister. :B I always carry a set of spare canisters for powering my Coleman 2-burner camp stove so I also have on hand this adapter, sold as a Steak Saver or Second Chance, which allows me to replace a tank with a canister.

Works just fine, limited only by the number of canisters I may have on hand, which usually can also be easily be purchased at the campground store in a case where propane tank fills may not be readily available.
  • Depending on how it is plumbed, it can be easy. *If* you have enough flexible rubber line on the output of the regulator, you can just unscrew the regulator (left handed threads) and screw it in to the portable cylinder- new cylinders will still accept the old POL fittings..
  • Sure. A long pig tail connected either by a T or directly replacing the line from the onboard tank will work. Then you can either connect a 5gallon tank or rent a large tank and have it delivered.
