Frankly, I don't remember anything in the manual about 'breaking in' either. I'm about ready to change the oil (mainly because I change the oil in my lawn mower, ATV's, and now the generator) for my yearly spring change. Breaking in for me was taking it to Washoe Lake for a weekend of 100+ degree days and living in the lap of luxury (i.e. air conditioning in my travel trailer - :) ).
