Floyd, you just don't give up....
I'd love to get 15 mpg out of my 31' Class C gasser.
I'd love to see Jayco quality at Fleetwood prices.
And I'd love to get full hookups at NFS campgrounds.
None of those are going to happen anytime soon.
"All the RV world is waiting"....
Hogwash.
I'd be willing to guess that the time and effort you (and others?) have spent trying to quiet down the 3Kw gensets has probably cost more at a fair day's wage than it would have been to just buy the ultra-quiet genset in the first place....
Both the Prius and Corolla are good cars. Their relative value in the eye of the purchaser is different.
The noise conscious RV'ing world has continued to pay top dollar for Yamaha and Honda, and to a lesser degree, Kipor. These are the same type of buyers who willingly pay top dollar for a Prius.
The more cost sensitive RV'ing world has endorsed using the Champs, Powermates, and other open frame gensets, while acknowledging that they're not in the same league as the gensets that cost 4x and up what they paid. These are the same type of buyer who would like a Prius, but settle for a Corolla.
You can continue to seek your Holy Grail of Power Generation, but I think this conversation has been beaten to death several hundred times over. I know there are far more meaningful and productive things you and I can be doing with our time.
I chime in at least 2 or 3 times a week just to check this blog. I am loving the ideas that everyone are try with there boxes. I want to buy one of these chineese gensets but haven't yet, but I do have an old coleman 5000 watt beast and I biult a box myself for that, and it won't be the last box I build for it or other generators as I keep reading this thread fo all the great minds and knowledge. thank you and keep up the good work.
