Reliable place to get dash air fixed on Georgie Boy Pursuit

Not sure I'm posting in the right place, but here goes. The dash air on our 2006 GEorgie Boy Pursuit works for about 30 minutes then freezes up. Told by Ford dealer it's the condenser and the cost to fix will be about $1,100. Our insurance will only cover $275 because they won't pay for Ford parts! Anyone have a recommendation as to where we might go in the Myrtle Beach, SC area for a better price? Generic part is fine with us! Thanks.

  • There is nothing special about the parts. Any auto A/C shop can fix your unit.
  • Can you explain more precisely what you mean when you say the ac freezes up? Does air quit coming out of the vents?
  • The Ford dealership assured me the part that needs replacing is a Ford product.
  • I told the dealership about the freeze sensor. All they said is that it was the condenser. Unfortunately, I'm no mechanic! That's why I appreciate the help.
  • Have you had the freeze sensor checked? It's located in the evaporator. Not sure what a problem in the condenser would have to do with freezing.
  • If this is a Ford F53 chassis then the condenser is a 3rd party device. If it is a E350/E450 then it is a Ford part.
