Replacement 1157 bulbs

In my coach there are 2 overhead reading lamps on each side of the bed. The bulbs resemble miniature projector/flood light bulbs. For the life of me, i cannot find suitable LED replacement bulbs. Has anyone found any replacement LEDs that work well and are bright enough for reading?

I have 4 of those reading lights as well (BA15s base); 2 in the bedroom and 2 in the living area. I used these and I'm happy with them, although they are a bit difficult to get in.

Ok, let me get more specific, They are 12 volt DC bulbs, and have a 1157 base and resemble the outdoor flood lights.

The base has nothing to do with the style of bulb itself. An 1157 is a dual element bulb with a BA-15D bayonet base, the 1156 is a single element with a BA-15S bayonet base ... neither bulb though is a floodlight. To replace your incandescent bulbs you need to know not just the type of base the bulb uses but also the wattage and/or lumen rating of the bulb itself so you can replace it with a suitable LED version.
  • They would be reading or map lights
Look into the socket, does it have two contacts or a single contact in the center?
Single contact would be like an 1156 two contact would be like a 1076. Common tungsten reading lamp is a 1383.
    Here is one type:
    LED lamps
Others would be a model 52625
  • The 1157 is a dual element and offset nubs on the base and puts out 400ish lumens on the higher power element.

The 1156 is a single element with symetric nubs on the base and puts our 400ish lumens.

I used these to replace the 1156's in my coach and couldn't be happier. Brighter and less heat. Very easy to read under.

Then they're not 1157 bulbs as you indicate in your thread title ... to replace them with an LED version you'd need to correctly identify these bulbs you have. These are flood light style bulbs.
