This is what my trailer has.

Add a switch to kill all power to the radio. Any radio that has memory for presets or has a remote is never totally off when turned off. All will have a slight draw to hold the presets or recognize the remote control.

you have it wired wrong,

the manual is kind of crappy, but wire 4 yellow should be hooked to constant power

wire 6 red should be hooked to switched power, turning the switch off will kill the radio, while remembering all the settings like a normal radio does.

most radios have two power sources. One is a switched power for the normal on/off the other is unswitched power to retain memory. Are you sure you didn't get the wires switched?

BTW as a side note most trailer radios are the same and will slowly drain the battery even in the off position since they draw enough power in "standby" to drain a single 12V battery in a few weeks.

According to the manual you need to press and hold the SRC button (top left) to turn it on and off. If it still won't turn off it's probably defective. You could try pulling the face plate off, (bottom right button) that might also turn it off, but then you need to store the face plate somewhere. If you want it further off than holding down SRC, you'll have to wire in a separate switch.

you should be able to press and hold the source (src) button or press it multiple times to turn it off and into standby mode.
to completely turn it off for storage you will need a switch on the power wires.

Our Eagle Cap came from the factory with a switch inside the cabinet above the stereo that kills the power to it like the ignition would in a car.

It is a cheapo mvh-s321bt. I was thinking that I can turn my truck radio off even when the truck is running, but this thing stays on no matter what I do.

I've never seen a in dash unit without a means to turn it off. But if that is truly what you have then you'll have to add an inline switch to cut the power when not in use. Just make sure you only kill the power and not the 12v memory line.
What model pioneer did you get?
