Replacing water pump-PSI question

I have to replace the water pump in my 1987 Scotty that I am resurrecting. The pump is a Shurflo but no model number. The label is pretty unreadable but it looks like it says 10 GPM. I know that isn't right on a trailer with a 15 gal water system. Anyone know what the typical water pressure would be in a trailer of that vintage. Shurflo lists a 1 GPM pump at 30 psi and a 2.3 GPM at 50 psi. I don't want to be popping fittings off all over the trailer from too high a psi. I already get a rainbow of water from the city connection when the pump is running. I haven't had time to check yet but I assume that is from some type of bad check valve.

    Did you try rebuild the old pump?
    West Marine is selling kits for most of them. It will be special order, but arrives fast.
    Here is $49 new pump
    BTW since the pressure is adjustable, I would lower it.
    All the 60psi on 1gpm pump does is draw higher amp to build the pressure when you are NOT using the pump.

    Wow didn't see that pump at Northern Tool. $49 would have been an easy decision.

    RV's are built to withstand at least 100 psi on the pressure system. Doug.

    Don't think psi on RV water pump matters, unless you have one of those bladder tanks in it.
    When you open any faucet, the pressure drops and then the gpm matter.
    With 1 gpm the running pressure will be close to 0 regardless the switch setting.

    The 2088 is discontinued
    the 4008 is 3 GPM @ 45 psi can be raised to 55 psi

    I have the 4008, and have had lots a trouble w/ it.

    Only Shurflo I know of that has 45psi is a Model 2088 with 3 gpm flow rate

    That ought to empty your 15 gallon tank in no time......5 minutes :B

    Don't know if this will help or I'm too late to the thread but I bought a Shurflo 1 gpm, 30 psi pump with on demand switch at Northern Tools last week for $49. That's supposed to be on sale off the list $69 price.

    I replaced the city water connection today and problem solved. I could maybe have fixed the old one but it was $11 for a new one. I ordered a new Sureflo pump with a 45 psi rating so next week I'll know how that works.

    With only 15 gallon I would go with the 1 gpm/30 psi pump

    And YES water coming out of the city water connection with pump running is a bad/jammed check valve (internal part of city water assembly)

    You can change out the assembly or just get a garden hose shutoff or a PVC plug and screw it into the 3/4" hose connection
