- mkirschNomad IIMy gut was telling me no. Thanks for the confirmation everyone.
I'm pretty confident that I haven't over-crushed the gasket. There are depth gauges on the gasket in each corner to indicate maximum gasket crush, and I stopped just slightly before those bottomed out on the roof of the camper. - DicorExplorerHello mkirsch!
Thank you for your question. It is important that you do not use a bead of Dicor Ultra Sealant around the base of the gasket. This will deteriorate the foam gasket, as Newman Fulltimer pointed out.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to give Dicor a call at 574-264-2699.
Safe and happy travels! - FulltimersExplorerAnd don't crank the bolts down too tight and crush the gasket.
- 3oaksExplorerFoam gasket is all that is required. Never heard of anyone using Dicor sealant when replacing an AC unit.
When I replaced ours, the original only had a foam gasket and I used only the new foam gasket that came with the new unit. Never had a problem with leaks. - newman_fulltimeExplorer IIno need for caulking it could deteriate the foam
