While I agree with pretty much everything you wrote, the big factors described above, like thick plates, and room at the bottom generally show up in a single number - weight. For flooded lead acid deep cycle heavier is better. I've had good luck with EGC2 Sam's Club 6 volts 230AH. The cost of the 225AH T-105 was 185% of the cost of those batteries, and they weighed 4lbs less. I just couldn't see paying 85% more.
